Not Alone by Malicious-Monkey Not Alone by Malicious-Monkey
This is a rather experimental piece I made for a local art show with the theme "Travelogue." It goes with my short novel Odyssey ([link]) but is not meant to be an illustration for it, unlike the rest. The astronaut here has developed a fear of the outdoors after spending two and a half years cooped up in a spaceship. His reluctance to venture outside will have detrimental consequences later on.

The medium is pen and watercolor on bristol, with a wash over the pen, and a sample of my terrible handwriting. Maybe I should have someone else write it next time.

I like it, but you might be right about the writing. Or just have some more style and confidence in yourself. :)

I have another one like this where I wrote more freely and it still looked pretty bad.

Awesome work. I see nothing wrong with the writing, it puts some kind of diary feel to the whole thing, what suits the theme, and adds to atmosphere pretty well.

That's good to know. At least it's legible, right? That's the most important thing.

It contributes to that Jules-Verne-esque feel the overall image has. Since this is a handwritten message from Dr. L. Ping, it probably should less legible. How many scientists/MDs do you know, that have legible handwriting?

True, that. Although it makes less sense that he'd have the same exact handwriting as his commander, who I also made a journal page of.
